Fátima’s Apparitions inspire the new collection of the Jewelry Designer Maria João Bahia
26 April 2017
Maria João Bahia, a famous portuguese jewelry designer, who celebrated her 30th career anniversary in 2015, has just presented her latest collection of jewels, called Celebrar Fatima. Created in the occasion of the Apparitions' Centenary, which is celebrated this year, the collection is composed of thirteen numbered pieces in limited edition. All the pieces have a strong conceptual component, coming from the interpretation that the artist makes of the Apparitions to the Shepherds in Fatima.
The Catholic formation of Maria João Bahia was always present in her professional career. During the visit of The Pope Benedict XVI, in 2010 and by invitation of the Patriarchate of Lisbon, she created " The St. Vicente Reliquary ". Now, in the occasion of the celebration of the apparitions' centenary, the jeweler created two new pieces that deserved the official seal of the Fatima's Shrine, the Splendour Symballein and the Mary's Heart Rosary. In parallel, and following the same inspirations, the author has created six other pieces available also from now on in gold or silver.
"In these jewels, a praying object, I represented what identifies us as Christians, but also what, as human beings, we all desire: LOVE between us and with God," says the artist about the collection now presented.
The new collection can be seen and acquired in the store at Avenida da Liberdade, 102 in Lisbon, and also on www.celebrarfatima.pt.
