‘Like a Queen’ by Maria João Bahia
Like a Queen, Maria João Bahia’s most recent jewellery series, pays tribute to female coqueterie. In this new range, once again a fetish exuberance is reaffirmed, very dear to the author and designer, for the profusion of colours and the unusual conjunction of precious stones. As we have always been used to, this is a compliment to joie de vivre.
With names as suggestive as Empress, New Worlds, Discoveries, Inclite Generation, the pieces in this series throw a wink at the common past of the Portuguese, at their history made up of grandiose moments that must be celebrated. At the same time, the jewels Like a Queen have in common the purpose of exalting the image of the woman, as it is a status since time immemorial. The aim has always been intended, today as before: to underline the role of the jewel as an object of feminine adornment. Brightness and colour alternate reflections thanks to the movement under light, whatever the piece – rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces or necklaces.
